Committees

  • This committee helps set up the fun run that all grade levels participate in. 

    • Get lanyards (that all students will wear while running) ready with QR codes to be scanned after each lap Print out QR Codes

    • Set up fundraiser webpage 

    • Organize and set up Water Station

    • Day of volunteers: setting up the run arch, music with speaker, get tablets ready to scan runners’ QR code, help organize students, cheer on runners, take photographs, wear Bailey Bobcat Mascot Suit

    • Potentially gain sponsors for the event

    • Decide on Movie to showcase to the community 

    • Decide on concessions and their prices, also order all concessions for the event

    • Advertise event locally to businesses

    • Day of volunteers: set up tents for concessions, have cash boxes and change ready, ice all drinks, bring extension cords

    • Put signage up around school to movie location (BMES track) 

    • Cleanup after the event

    • Plan theme and decorations of the Ball- make any necessary purchases for event

    • Decide on and purchase food/drinks

    • Advertise, set up purchasing system of Ball tickets 

    • Get a DJ reserved, work out music/lighting/speaker system 

    • Day of volunteers: All hands on deck putting up decorations in the gym: hanging lights, etc.

    • Clean up after the event 

    • Figure out reasonable goals for the school/timeframe/rewards- find donations for student awards

    • Advertise to whole school, implement fun reading  inspirations 

    • Set up online and in-person reading minutes logging system

    • Work with the PE Coach on creating events/writing out explanations for each event

    • Managing parent volunteers for each field day event and each station has the equipment needed

    • Set up water station/popsicle station 

    • Day of Volunteers: Get sound system set up outside at the track/set up cones & equipment/clip boards needed

    • Create a theme of the week, and work within the budget to plan an event for each day of the week

    • Find restaurant to cater teacher lunch

    • Decorate the school hallways and teacher lounge

    • Secure silent auction donations/ communicate silent auction basket information to BMES teachers 

    • Order food and drinks for the event

    • Organize parent volunteers and  high school volunteer groups at the event 

    • Organize games and their needed equipment and their placements in the school 

    • Advertise in the community 

Get Involved! 
Membership

Membership in the PTO automatically includes parents and legal guardians of the students currently enrolled at Barranca Mesa Elementary School, all BMES administrators, teachers and support staff. Members of the organization are eligible to participate in the business meetings or to serve in any elective or appointive position.
